Taking Action: The Power of Positive Rituals
A growing body of work suggests that as little as 5% of our behavior is consciously self-directed. We are creatures of habit and as much as 95% of what we do occurs automatically or in reaction to a demand or an anxiety. The power of positive rituals (precise, consciously acquired behaviors that become automatic in our lives) are fueled by a deep sense of purpose.

“Positive rituals are powerful on three levels. They help us to insure that we effectively manage energy in service of whatever mission we are on. They reduce the need to rely on our limited conscious will and discipline to take action. Finally rituals are a powerful means by which to translate our values and priorities into action – to embody what matters most to us in our everyday behaviors.” Dr Jim Loehr author of The Power of Full Engagement

Polar Smart Coaching Training Tip: Keeping Score

Keeping a personal journal can increase your determination to accomplish your goals. Tracking your progress will add accountability to your plan for a healthier you. Your will to succeed needs to be reinforced every day. How bad do you really want to succeed? What are you willing to do to get your goals? Journaling has proven to be an effective tool to give you feedback, create positive self-talk, and keep you focused on the goal. Using technology like a HR monitor to track your activity and the quality of that activity can give you the feedback you need to succeed. Beachbody Nutrition Tip: When to Eat
It’s important to follow a regular eating schedule. First, it keeps your blood sugar stable instead of peaking and crashing, which can lead to overeating and a general poor feeling. Second, regular meals will speed up your metabolism by challenging it to keep processing calories, rather than storing them in a game of “feast or famine.” Success comes to those who eat early and often. You should be eating every few hours while you’re awake, favoring small meals and snacks. Try to finish your last snack approximately 3 hours before you hit the sack. This’ll help keep undigested carbs from being stored as fat. If you do need to break this rule, a small protein shake would be the snack of choice before bed, as it can help your recovery during sleep.

“Something will master and something will serve. Either you run the day, or the day runs you; either you run the business or the business runs you. Don’t mistake movement for achievement. It’s easy to get faked out by being busy. The question is: Busy doing what? Days are expensive. When you spend a day you have one less day to spend. So make sure you spend each one wisely.” Jim Rohn
