The Power to Change
Emotion is physically stronger than thought, which suggests a very different emphasis in the way we conduct our affairs. Cognitive therapy, the science of teaching people how to train their thoughts into more positive patterns, has proven to be as effective, if not more, than medication in treating depression and other psychological illnesses, with lower relapse rates. How you live, and how you think about it, is a big part of how your life goes, there is a real premium on positive emotions. The good news is that you can create them by consciously creating positive, supportive environments. You can do this by deliberately driving off the biggest threat of the modern lifestyle: STRESS. By reaching out to good stimuli: exercise, good sleep, healthyl diet, love, and recreation, you can create the positive environments that promote better health. Connection with friends and family, connection with a worthy cause, or with a group of other individuals that share your desire to live well and share your experiences, help to build that support system that will allow you to break through the negative thoughts that invade our world when we are isolated. Connect and commit to generate positive emotions and drive away despair and decay.
